Future Hopes

In the presentation yesterday, Mr. Odom kept discussing critique groups.  These were groups that writers (looking to publish or not) would be able to come in and critique each other's writing.  In these groups, writers would bring five pages of their work, and read it aloud to a small group.  Each group would have a copy of the author's work, and would be making critiques as they read.  When they were finished reading, each person would say their critiques to the author, so the piece could be made better.  This reminded me of Author's Chair in Mrs. BK's class last year.  It sounded like the exact same concept, except the author was reading their paper to the whole class.  I think that the critique groups are good for authors, because it allows them to see and hear the reactions of readers.  These reactions are what can improve their story.  Mr. Odom also talked about getting a book published, and how you could get a book published through a publisher, or self-publish a book.  Even though he recommended finding a publisher to publish a book, I did not even know that you could self-publish a book.
If I were to ask Mr. Odom a question, I would ask him how he has enjoyed the critique groups, and what his most interesting experience in the critique groups was.
In one year, I would like to be in college, but I am unsure of where yet.  I would like to stay close to Springfield, and I want to begin to study Occupational Therapy wherever I go to school.  In five years, I expect that I will still be in school (considering I continue to study Occupational Therapy) receiving my Master's degree (But Meghan will be doing some amazing things there...I'm sure of it--Zachary).  In 10 years, I would like to have my college degree, and have a job in Occupational Therapy.  I would also like to have a family, and an apartment or a house.  In 50 years, I want to be sitting in a cushioned rocking chair with a good book, with grandchildren running around me.
